You have an antidote: meditate. Once you understand that anger is harmful to you, you must undo it. Cross your legs and sit. This will neutralize your anger much more quickly. If you practice this often enough, eventually your anger will vanish altogether. All you need to do is truly believe that anger is not good for you. Then, cross your legs. Especially when you are furious, sit down in that position and do not uncross your legs as long as the anger remains. Don't do anything else—just sit there. If you are angry, you are wrong. Period. It doesn't matter what the other person did—you are the one in the wrong. In fact, by being angry, you are more wrong than they are. Look at your anger. Do not look away; face it head-on. Sometimes, however, the anger can become overwhelming, beyond your ability to handle. That is when you should call upon Guanyin Bodhisattva (Avalokiteshvara). Instead of staring at the anger, say: “Guanyin, please help me. I can no longer control my anger.” Continue to pray until the anger subsides. When you do this and the anger recedes, controlling it will be easier the next time, and even easier the time after that. Eventually, it can be reduced to zero. In this way, you resolve the very root of your anger. We all need help sometimes. If you sincerely try everything you can and it still doesn’t work, call on Guanyin with all your heart: “Please help me.” Instead of focusing on the anger, single-mindedly chant Guanyin’s name. The anger will vanish. Through this practice, you build the capability to undo your anger, because Guanyin Bodhisattva's power is stronger than the negative force behind your anger."
