You have been gaining a lot of benefits through these practices—through your hard work. The reason you’ve been getting such great benefits is that you made no mistakes.
In cultivation, what truly matters is avoiding mistakes that make you regress. This is what people don't realize. They think cultivation is just reciting mantras, meditating, or reciting the Buddha's name. Yes, all of those are expedients, but real cultivation is avoiding regression.
Here is one example: losing your temper makes you regress.
For instance, suppose you’ve been meditating all day, and your chi builds up in your navel. If someone makes you lose your temper, all the chi you built up in your navel is gone in a split second. All your hard work is lost instantaneously.
Not only is it lost, but you are also creating offenses on top of it. When you lose your temper, you create offenses and destroy your good roots. You lose all the blessings you accrued—which manifested as chi building up in your navel—and you create new offenses.
The instruction for you is simple: Do not lose your temper. Do not get angry. Treat getting angry as if you are poisoning yourself. That’s all you need to know.
