**When you get afflicted, it’s your problem. Is that clear?** When you become hateful, it’s your problem. You take care of that problem. You don’t say, “How come you’re so unfair to me? How come you always pick on me?” You only look at yourself. “Does it afflict me?”
If you want to change others, that’s how you change them. Because if you resent them and fight with them, you’re only adding oil to the fire. But if you only look at yourself and say, “Does she make me afflicted? Does he make me afflicted? I work on my affliction.”
If you work on your affliction, one day you will become grateful to that person for afflicting you. That is the day when you have certified to yourself that you’ve arrived. You’re free from that affliction, and you become grateful to the person who caused you to become afflicted.
On the other hand, if you become afflicted, fight back, and blame the other person, you’ll never be able to overcome this problem.
