These thoughts are not beneficial during recitation. If you are seeking something while reciting, let go of your greedy mind. Do not think about what you want—focus only on the Buddha. Then you will obtain what you seek more quickly. On the other hand, if you recite while thinking, “I want this,” your mind will not be focused, and you will not receive it as quickly as you could. The reason you obtain what you want is because of your blessings. The temple serves two purposes. The first is to help you plant blessings. When you have blessings, they will help you obtain what you want. When you come to the temple and recite the Buddha’s name, you accumulate many blessings. These blessings will manifest what you want and what you need.
