Become aware of the habit of digging into others' mistakes. The first level is detecting this habit energy. The next step is to look at it and ask, "Why do I have this habit?" But do not use 'thinking.' Once you are aware of the habit, all you have to do is observe it. Do not start thinking, "Is it because of my mother, my father, my teacher, or my sister?" Do not think. This is very important. Illuminating is simply acknowledging: "I am looking at others' faults." Just look at that habit. If you observe it long enough without thinking, you will reach the root of the problem. This process—stopping the thinking, stopping the attempt to 'understand' intellectually, and simply observing the habit—is key. What about other problems? It is a similar process for any affliction. Looking at others' faults is actually a sign that you are in a state of affliction. Look at the state of your own affliction, not at whether you are 'right.'
