Wherever you go, disappear. Do not try to stand out like ordinary people. When you come to the temple, please blend into the assembly. This is how your ego manifests—by trying to be noticed. True cultivation is blending in, even outside the temple. Do not seek to stand out; do what others are doing. However, when you are in the temple, you must watch your ego. In normal life, we often blend in with others' egos. In the temple, you must watch yourself. Observe your habit of doing only what you want and like. If you feel unwilling to do something, that is exactly when you should force yourself to do it. Cultivation is looking at yourself. If there is something you are unwilling to do, challenge yourself to do it. When you cultivate, you must be willing to do what you are typically reluctant to do.
