#platform/youtube #channel/Master-YongHua #playlist/dharma-seeds ![It is not about Reciting or Memorizing, It is about Upholding the Principles](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOH_KoX03Ag) A lot of Buddhist disciples, they memorize a heart sutra as it told by their Dharma Masters, by their teachers. But, is memorizing enough? It's not. You still have to hold. They recite the Buddhist name. They recite sutras. They memorize things, but they don't hold them. And that's the difference. You need to hold them. Hold them meaning that you have to stick to those principles. You cannot say, "Everything is empty anyway." That's reciting. "Everything is empty. Everything is empty. Everything is empty." But then, but I'm still stingy. Then, if you're stingy, then everything is not empty, is it? And because you recite Buddhism one one one hand, the other hand you are, you know, indulging in thoughts of greed or anger, stupidity. It doesn't work. That's a contradiction to what you're just reciting. Therefore, you need to resolve that issue. You cannot ignore it. What people do is they ignore it. They say, "Okay, never mind about this. Never mind about that. Never mind about this." So, therefore, they're not holding at all. That's a problem with the spiritual practice. They're not following instructions properly. It's not about memorizing. It's not about reciting. It has to be hold. You have to hold it. You have to live by those principles. Try your best to uphold those principles.
