All the practices are based on the Six Paramitas. Paramitas are Sanskrit words for arriving to the other shore meaning in Buddhism... in Buddhist jargon, it means that you attain liberation. The other shore is... alludes to the fact we are here in the shore of suffering and we somehow manage to cross the ocean, the sea suffering and go to the other shore. The other shore of nirvana where there's no more suffering but only bliss. That's what it means by arriving at the shore. It also means in general success, achievement. So the Six Paramitas are the six major classes of dharmas that all Mahayana practices are based on.
