One of the worst things that can happen to us is apathy... says, "Not my problem. I'm glad I'm not in your shoes." You should look at the suffering they're undergoing and have empathy for the suffering instead of passing judgment on them about right and wrong. This is the wrong time to be righteous. If you have wisdom, then the basis of your actions should be empathy and sympathy. It doesn't matter if it's right or wrong.
In Mahayana, the first thing—the most important thing for us—is have empathy and have compassion. If you want to really unfold your wisdom more and more, your compassion needs to increase more and more, not your sense of righteousness.
