When you recite the Buddha’s name, any thought that arises other than the Buddha’s name is called false thinking. This means that during Buddha-name recitation, any thought other than the Buddha’s name is not beneficial.
You only need to recognize these thoughts as unwelcome. They are called false thoughts because they are not good for you. “False” means undesirable, and therefore you should not follow them.
When a false thought arises, the method is very simple. You only need to recognize that the false thought is not good, and then return to reciting the Buddha’s name.
